There’s something about a country farm wedding that sets our souls alight. So imagine our joy when we found out that, not only are today’s couple perhaps the loveliest on the planet, and not only is their home farm wedding an utter stunner, but they may have also used some of our very favourite suppliers to create their dreamy aesthetic. A dream come true? Oh goodness yes!
Jill and Colin, proud owners of unbelievable chocolate company Ramstane, hosted their big day on their home farm in Ayrshire. The perfect combination of soft spring tones, hazy lighting and the addition of a fully fledged polytunnel, once home to a flock of hens, made this one of the most unique and perfect celebrations .
Jill and Colin chose dream photography duo The Hendrys, whose snapshots from this day I had been screenshotting long before writing this blog, to capture their day. The perfect selection as you can see; we particularly love the couple’s first look, the most beautiful and intimate way to combat any jitters before heading down the aisle! Working with the hazy April light and blessed with beautiful sunshine, these images show a purity and honesty that perfectly complements the sheer joy shown by bride, groom, family, friends and every smiling face in each perfect picture.
“They captured every part of our day and every image is beautiful”
explained Jill
Using the farm as their starting point, the inspiration for the big day grew organically, incorporating the land that surrounds the venue and the personalities of those who inhabit it (both human and otherwise!) The wedding’s handmade qualities are evidenced by gorgeous touches, such as the shawl draped over the bride to fight the evening chill, skillfully knitted by her mother and the tree, planted by the couple to honour Jill’s grandmother who couldn’t be present on the day. The couple hope to add another every year, building a veritable orchard to mark their nuptials!
Their venue was perfectly adorned with incredible blooms from none other than geniuses Pyrus Botanicals, whose flowers have us swooning on a regular basis. Framing the minimalist polytunnel with rustic floral arrangements, including the utterly stunning floral arch, the pared back aesthetic with organic textures and muted palette suited the surroundings to perfection and provided a unique yet utterly stunning take on the traditional wedding arrangements.
The bride’s dress was spotted on uber stylish site Net a Porter. Having previously selected two vintage gowns from Starry Starry Night, Jill still felt that neither was quite right and both required a large amount of alterations to become the dream gown. However, when Jill tried on her surprise dress, created by Roland Mouret, the fit was perfect. Unbeknownst to the savvy shopper, it was also the ultimate match to Jill’s chosen Whistles bridesmaids dresses. Jill’s previous two vintage gowns were transformed to be part of the day too, with one becoming her evening gown for dancing the night away, and her mother creating her beautiful veil from the train of the other! Her look was finished with a pair of boots and a little added magic by the amazing AMM team, whose radiant natural makeup was the perfect finishing touch for Jill.
“The minute I saw EYi Love’s designs, I knew they were the right team to create our wedding stationery. And they are such lovely people, it just felt right”
Jill explains
Jill was introduced to EYi Love through Lauren’s familiarity with The Wedding Collective, which she used when planning her own big day (home of many a dream supplier, if we do say so ourselves!) As a textile designer, Jill’s sister knew the value of fantastic materials and, as Jill explains “the minute I saw EYi Love’s designs, I knew they were the right team to create our wedding stationery. And they are such lovely people, it just felt right”. Jill and Colin put their own unique spin on our Lana suite, opting for the classic yet contemporary hues of ivory and gold. Selecting invitations and RSVPs, addressed with incredible calligraphy, as well as table plans and place names to adorn their venue, the couple have kept several samples to display and remind them of their big day.
“I’m sad we never sent ourselves an envelope, the calligraphy was completely out of this world!
says Jill
Bakery47 supplied the couple’s impressive cake table; a supplier relationship which has led to the couple’s own delectable chocolates hosting pop ups within the Southside retreat. Bakery47 even created a gorgeous gluten free cake for Jill to enjoy.
Partying long into the night, surrounded by warm wishes and wonderful friends, Jill and Colin’s big day was a wondrous lesson in remaining true to yourself and your ideals, creating a perfect day that was uniquely them. We have been completely bowled over by the effortless beauty of this gorgeous celebration and the sheer joy that radiates from each image. It’s not often you hear the words wedding, polytunnel, lambs and farm in the same sentence, but we hope that, upon viewing these gorgeous snapshots from a perfect day, more couples will be inspired to stick to their guns and create a day that truly reflects their personalities and relationship as a couple. This one will stay with us for a very, very long time and we wish Jill and Colin a lifetime of true happiness together, on their farm, surrounded by gorgeous animals and love in abundance.
