Welcome wonderful readers, wedding planners and those who love stylish stationery, to this, our very last blog of this year, and indeed this remarkable decade! A decade married, a decade in business and all the wonders that have come with it! We are oh so very grateful for each and every client who has ordered from us in that time, you’re all dreams!
So, we thought we would, at the end of this most momentous time, give you, our wonderful clients, some wedding planning advice from previous EYI LOVE clients… There’s some serious wedding wisdom in here for you guys!
Chloe married partner Mark in a seriously stunning South African celebration, and, reflecting on her own planning timeline, had this to say for future brides beginning their wedding planning journey…
“I think 18 months is long enough to plan a wedding, any longer and you start to get super frustrated and impatient for it to happen. Also when planning make specific boards on your Instagram account so you can save images you love in specific categories – a lot easier to find!”
Who could forget the incredible big day of Jane and her husband Adam, who wed in a phenomenal Jewish ceremony at the Botanical Gardens in Chicago. We’ve grown an international following over the years, something we’re incredibly proud of, and the faith clients like Jane put in our business makes all those late nights printing worthwhile!
“One piece of advice that I would love to share with future brides is to have your part in the planning (if that’s what you are into), communicate your ideas, make sure they’re understood, and then beyond that just let the rest go! Trust that your wedding will be beautiful no matter what and any elements that might not be executed exactly as planned will only add to the beauty of your day.”
Organisation was key when teacher Natalie married Christopher in the majestic setting of Dundas Castle, and we must also admit, here in the studio, we L O V E a list!
“I have always been a ‘list person’ so I knew I had to make the ultimate to do list! My wedding to do list was categorised, split month by month, list of tasks, who was responsible, and a cell for traffic light colours to indicate their progress! Can you tell I’m a teacher?!”
Natalie also suggests going all out on the areas that are truly important to you and your partner, which will ensure your day is memorable and very personal.
“The most important aspect of the day was enjoyment! We wanted everyone (including us!) to have the best day ever”, Natalie describes. “From the music in the church, the most incredible jazz trio during the drinks reception, surprise singing waiters during our meal and then our fantastic band in the evening, we just wanted to be entertained and have fun! Our musical director (Des McLean) said to us, “music isn’t reserved for royalty!” A 20 strong choir, trumpets, bagpipes and a drummer and we definitely felt like royalty!”
Dream bride Rebecca married Craig at what can only be described as a seriously E X T R A Aynhoe extravaganza. Their big day planning also involved some serious organisational prowess…
“Given Craig’s line of work he is super organised, so he had a spreadsheet LITERALLY for everything and was really good keeping track of the budget etc. I do think that giving guys tasks to do and to be involved in things that could potentially interest them really does help. And also finally, help. Being able to ask for help, we didn’t opt for a wedding planner – I’m too much of a control freak and frankly I get so much more satisfaction from doing things myself. However, don’t take too much on because it really quickly does become overwhelming!”
Our final wedding wisdom comes from bride Emily, who wed husband James in an elegant Springtime celebration at Blenheim Palace. She writes of an aspect which rings so true to our hearts, finding the right suppliers for you and your vision of your day.
“All my suppliers were so wonderful. My photographer Kate Hopewell-Smith was a massive highlight – I felt quite privileged to work with her and her fiance – the photos from the day are just so beautiful. My florist Emma Walker was another special highlight – she is such a lovely person and she did so much more than just flowers.”
So there you have it, for the late night planning sessions that lie ahead (we suggest lots of tea and biscuits, and a healthy helping of P A T I E N C E!) take heed of this advice, and enjoy!
